Generous golfers have chipped in to raise a whopping $25,000 for an organisation providing a valuable service to the community.

A full field of 156 players took part in the Simmonds Lumber Totara Hospice South Auckland Charity Golf Day at Pakuranga Golf Club last on 3 October 2014.

Great weather and course conditions paved the way for low scores, but the winner of the day was definitely Totara Hospice, as the CEO of the palliative care provider, Alan Beal, was presented a cheque for $25,000 on the back of a successful auction and plentiful donations.

The money raised for the deserving cause meant everyone came away from the tournament feeling rewarded, though the hole in one prize of a brand new Subaru Forester, valued at $47,990 and sponsored by Winger Subaru, went unclaimed.
